The endorsement is the first of four steps on Arinex’ pathway towards meaningful action to advance reconciliation. Arinex’ RAP marks out the journey to move from the current Reflect phase to the remaining three phases; Innovate, Stretch and Elevate.
In achieving the endorsement, Arinex has become the first event management company to have formalised a commitment towards reconciliation, joining business events industry partners such as ICC Sydney and Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).
The RAP is part of Arinex’ goal to become a more inclusive and culturally respectful organisation. The company aims to educate all team members, stakeholders, partners, and clients on the importance of reconciliation and the relevance to the industry.
“Reconciliation Australia welcomes Arinex to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program with the formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect RAP,” said Karen Mundine, CEO, Reconciliation Australia.
“Arinex joins a network of more than 2,200 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the RAP program.”
To visualise its reconciliation journey, Arinex commissioned Quandamooka Country-based artist Bree Buttenshaw, a proud Kalkadoon woman, to create a bespoke piece of artwork.
Some of the actions Arinex is committed to undertaking includes a review of anti-discrimination policies to promote positive race relations and establishing and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations.
“The 50th anniversary of Arinex this year prompted us to reflect on our past, reassess our identity and determine our future aspirations. As one of the largest international event management companies in Australia, we recognise that our success is dependent on our people,” said Nicole Walker, CEO, The Arinex Group.
“Promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace culture is vital to our continued success and we acknowledge that there is much work to be done to better understand and incorporate First Nations peoples, histories and cultures into our day-to-day operations. We also look forward to continuing to showcase our First Nations cultures to global audiences at our international events.”
