Background:

Arinex’ Incentives and Special Events team thrive on creating unique and tailored experiences for a range of needs and objectives. Creativity runs in their blood and they always aim to push the boundaries across all aspects of event design, to deliver experiences that are remembered for all the right reasons.

Challenges:

The National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) supports and encourages the success of women in the construction industry. Arinex has worked with the New South Wales division since 2012 to deliver its annual awards night, which has evolved and grown considerably in that time. With such a long-running partnership, the team has been challenged each year to continue creating the ‘wow’ factor and deliver the construction industry’s ‘night of nights’. It requires a new level of ideas, inspiration and innovation, to make each awards night even better than the previous year’s.

Solutions:

To ensure the quality for 2019, the Arinex team;

• Developed a number of mood boards containing different themes, to allow the committee to select one. This approach ensures a custom theme for each year, helping to construct the awards;

• Implemented the 2019 theme Welcome to the Jungle throughout all design aspects of the night including digital, theming and AV production. This included securing a living green wall of plants for the stage backdrop and ceiling features, zebra-printed vases and designing an original choreographed Cirque de Soleil entertainment opening act, including flame and trapeze artists;

• Designed an interactive floorplan, which included two stage sets, allowing sufficient space between tables to encourage the entertainers to roam the floor and further immerse the audience experience.

• Planned for a fun-filled after-party to encourage attendees to let their hair down after the formalities, utilising AV and lighting production and contracting an appropriate band.

Outcomes:

Since Arinex came on board, the awards have grown in size and popularity, attracting 700 people in 2011 to a record 1,224 people in 2019. The Organising Committee were rapt with the 2019 awards, with NAWIC NSW’s outgoing President Sarah Hogan declaring the “best year yet”.
