Business event funding in Australia & New Zealand

Micenet has compiled this list of the latest funding opportunities for corporate and business events in 2021, along with helpful links – see what is on offer for your next event.

Who: Melbourne Convention Bureau
The offer: Up to $25,000 per event to offset event costs through their National Business Events Program. Up to 50 percent of funding may be paid to organisers prior to event delivery.
The details: The amount of funding offered will depend on event duration and the number of interstate delegates travelling to Victoria to attend. While corporate and association events are the focus, conferences, exhibitions or trade shows, workshops and seminars, corporate meetings and incentive group events with a business event program are also all eligible for funding.

Who: The NSW Government through Business Events Sydney
The offer: The NSW Government has allocated $5.5 million to directly fund business events. More details of how much individual events will be eligible for are not yet available.
The details: Despite an initial promise of full funding details being launched on April 6, further information is yet to be released, but more details are mere days away.

Who: Brisbane Economic Development Agency
The offer: $50 per in-person delegate for events in Brisbane until December 2022. Funding is to be spent on event costs.
The details: Events must have a minimum duration of three days and be for over 200 in-person delegates. Events must be booked with a Brisbane EDA member by the end of this financial year. The funding program is operating on a first-come-first-served basis, with applications to close by June 30 or earlier if all funds are committed.

Who: Northern Territory Business Events
The offer: $100 per delegate to be spent on local event costs through the NT Business Events Support Fund.
The details: To qualify, business events must have a minimum of 80 percent of delegates attending the event from outside the Northern Territory. Events which align with the Territory’s industry sectors will be given priority.

Who: Business Events Perth
The offer: $30 per delegate to a maximum of $30,000.
The details: You’ve got to be quick to take advantage of this one – events must be held in Western Australia by 30 June 2021. Like Melbourne, eligible events include conferences, exhibitions or tradeshows, workshops and seminars as well as corporate meetings and incentive group events with a business event program.

Who: Business Events Perth
The offer: $25,000 to help secure keynote speakers for national business events – anywhere in Australia.
The details: Lock in that amazing keynote with this cash incentive to help drive delegate numbers – that is what Business Events Perth is aiming to help achieve. Open to business events taking place before 31 December 2021. The bureau asks that recipients book a new, future national or international business event for Western Australia within 21 months of the 2021 event, to take place before December 2024.

Who: Business Events Sunshine Coast in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Council
The offer: Funding for business events to be held on the Sunshine Coast (amounts not qualified).
The details: The Sunshine Coast started this funding program in 2017, a long time before COVID-19 had everyone turning to domestic business. Eligible business events must have a minimum of 200 delegates with 75 percent coming from outside of the Sunshine Coast. The event must be held wholly within the Sunshine Coast Council area and, like other funds, priority will be given to the region’s high value industries.

Who: Business Events Tasmania
The offer: Is not quite clear, but the Tasmanian Business Events Attraction Fund came up in Business Events Tasmania’s news feed in mid-2020.
