As part of the process to become carbon neutral, Arinex purchased carbon credits to offset the carbon emissions the organisation generated in a year. Arinex employees voted on a range of Climate Active approved options, and voted to support the Greenfleet Restoration Australia Project and the Rimba Raya Biodiveristy Reserve Project in Indonesia.
Greenfleet plant biodiverse native trees on behalf of Arinex to offset emissions. This helps restore native forests and ecosystems, which provide crucial habitat for endangered wildlife, helps encounter the devasting impact of bushfires and reduces the impacts of climate change. Since 1977 Greenfleet has planted over 9.7 million trees across 500 forests in Australia and New Zealand and offset 3.9 million tonnes of carbon (Greenfleet, 2022).
Located in Borneo, The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve creates a protective buffer between destructive palm plantations in the region and the biodiverse-rich Tanjung Puting National Park – an important conservation area for the endangered Orangutan. Covering over 47,000 hectares of land, Rimba Raya is home to over 600 flora and fauna species and protects over 100 endangered and threatened species on the IUCN Red List (Rimba Raya, 2022).
The Arinex team are engaged and follow the outcomes from both projects, and are inspired to reduce the organisations emissions and secure a better future for the planet
