In the vibrant city of Las Vegas, the 12th edition of IMEX America brought together the international meetings and incentive travel industry over three days in October.

This year’s instalment of the USA’s largest business events trade show etched its name as the biggest ever, boasting an impressive 15,000 confirmed participants, including 5,000 buyers responsible for substantial budgets, with nearly half controlling an impressive $5 million or more.

The trade show featured an expansive showcase with over 3,400 exhibiting companies, solidifying the resurgence of face-to-face business events in the industry.

Arinex joined forces with 23 industry partners at the Business Events Australia stand, representing a diverse mix of destinations, venues, airlines, DMCs and accommodation providers.

Sian Newman, Senior Business Development Manager at The Arinex Group, seized the opportunity to connect and engage with buyers, participating in 25 meetings across the three days along.

“IMEX America serves as a crucial platform for The Arinex Group to showcase our capabilities and the scale of this year’s event emphasised the renewed appetite for in-person gatherings. It was encouraging to witness the vibrancy of the meetings industry,” Sian said.

“Our meeting diary filled up quickly, indicating a strong interest in business events in Australia. The stand bustled with activity throughout the three days, and group meetings hosted by Business Events Australia attracted a substantial crowd.

“Noteworthy trends, including a preference for 5–7-day programs and increased enquiries from North, Central and South America, highlight Australia as the emerging destination of choice for groups venturing beyond their short haul options.”

Despite challenges like flight schedules and perceived distance, Australia’s charm was evident, with numerous participants affirming that the country holds a sought-after place on their ‘bucket-list’ for incentive and conference travel.

“The strength of the US dollar provides excellent value for international groups,” Sian said.

“Enthusiasm was particularly strong among large incentive groups, ranging from 300 to 1,200 delegates, planning for 2025 onwards.

“It’s clear that buyers are strategically planning well in advance, and the year 2025 holds particular significance, with a planning lead time of 12 months plus emerging as the sweet spot.”

The surge in hosted buyers at IMEX America, and the number of quality opportunities, indicates a growing confidence in the industry’s willingness to invest in impactful business events.
